CASHBUILD HELPS UPGRADE SCHOOLS IN TEMBISA

Cashbuild Art at Heart Event Tembisa 2019 Eight schools in Tembisa, Gauteng, were the lucky winners of the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition and their prize now allows them to improve school facilities. The schools each won a Cashbuild building material voucher to the value of R15 000 which was handed out at the opening ceremony of the refurbished Cashbuild Tembisa North store on the 8th of August 2019.

Reagile Primary School, Mashemong Primary School and Mikateka Primary School were just three of the eight schools that each received a Cashbuild building material voucher.

Reagile Primary School's principal, Mr Ntshali, will be using the voucher to upgrade the safety facilities on the school grounds. "With this Cashbuild voucher we will be placing razor wire onto the existing school fence, as well as reinforcing the security bars in the ceiling of our current computer lab. The protection and wellbeing of our learners is a huge priority." Mr Ntshali said that they will also be using part of the voucher to pave the main entrance area of the school.

Mr N Dlamini, the principal of Mashemong Primary School said: "We are happy and grateful to Cashbuild for this generous voucher as we can now complete some existing maintenance projects around the school. These include painting of some classrooms, refurbishing of some classroom ceilings as well as fixing the existing toilet facilities for both the girls and boys."

Mikateka Primary School's principal, Mr Sibanyoni said: "With this voucher, we will be fitting metal palisades to partition off the foundation phase students from the intermediate and senior students. This way, the older and younger learners will have their own separate classrooms." He added that they will also be painting the toilet facilities and replacing some tiles.

At the opening ceremony of the refurbished Cashbuild Tembisa North store which took place on the 8th of August 2019, when the building material vouchers totaling R120 000 were handed out to the eight winning schools, the children entertained everyone with singing, cultural dancing and theatrical performances.

The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition eentails learners from each school to submit their best artwork to Cashbuild. This artwork is displayed at the ceremony, and remains on display in the Cashbuild store for the next six years.

Artwork was judged and three winners from each school were named. Winners received Cashbuild Art-at-Heart gold, silver and bronze certificates for first, second and third place respectively. The Manager's Choice was awarded to a learner from Reagile Primary School who was the overall winner of the artwork competition. This award was announced on the day and the winning learner received a stationery pack and a trophy. The winner was also given the honour of officially opening the refurbished store.
