Nelson Mandela Month (2020)

This year the company has made a generous donation to African Footprints of Hope Organization, a Non-Governmental Organization based in Alice in the Eastern Cape.

The organization is headed by a respected community leader, Nolitha Nkomana. Ms Nkomana approached Cashbuild earlier this year to assist with renovations of a school whose infrastructure was damaged by floods. Alice Primere Skool caters for a community that is impoverished within this university town. The donation of building materials to the tune of R40 000 will go a long way to repair the damaged school. Head of Community Support Initiatives at Cashbuild, Thembelani Tukwayo says the partnership with African footprints of Hope Organisation is an important one as community development can only be successful by joining hands with partners.” We are excited that we can honour the memory of Madiba by making this donation to the school.

What makes it easier with this project is that we found a great partner in African Footprints of Hope Organisation and they will ensure that the project is executed professionally,” says Mr Tukwayo. Ms Nkomana expressed her gratitude to Cashbuild. “We are extremely excited to receive the donation from Cashbuild for the building material towards the repairing of Alice Primere Skool which was affected by the floods.This contribution means a lot to us as it will bring back the dignity of our children and improving the teaching and learning process of the school, as Tata Nelson Mandela once said: “education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world”. For this reason, we will forever be grateful to Cashbuild for partnering with our organisation, African Footprints of Hope, in changing the lives of our children and that of our communities. Cashbuild has been supporting the Mandela Day for many years now and has previously had successful projects in Seshego, Limpopo, Umbumbulu in KwaZulu-Natal and Orange Farm and Lawley in Gauteng.
