Cashbuild has joined hands with one of the Eastern Cape poorest Communities to fix dipping tanks for their livestock. The community of Ndabakazi in Butterworth have received a generous donation from Cashbuild, and it will help community small livestock farmers.

The dipping tank had been out of service since 2017, which was difficult for the farmers and owners of the livestock. A majority of families in this community rely on livestock as a source of income and sustain their livelihoods. Cashbuild saw it fit to support this initiative as it is part of the company’s stated mission of investing in communities where we trade. South Africa is facing a high rate of unemployment, and this initiative will assist in alleviating the numerous challenges faced by rural communities.

One of the community members, Mr Anele Mafanga, said ‘On behalf of the community of Ndabakazi Village, I would like to thank Cashbuild for your financial contribution towards rebuilding the community livestock dipping tank. Your financial support has helped restore the facility to a functional state after many years with no dipping tank for our livestock. The generous support of companies like you makes it possible for our communities to escape poverty and hunger, which resulted from the deaths of many of our animals over many years.

Cashbuild generously donated building material worth R16 400. Mr Thembelani Tukwayo, Cashbuild’s Community Support Initiative manager, said, “This project is in line with our efforts of making a meaningful investment in our host communities. What excites me most about this project is that it helps local rural farmers to look after their livestock. There is a dire need to improve living conditions at a local level, especially in the township and rural environments, and this is where our stores are located.”
