Walter Sisulu University approached Cashbuild to donate cleaning equipment (gloves & vest for health and safety). The University was running a cleaning campaign. The campaign’s aim was to keep the environment clean and contribute to the solution of waste management.
This event brought about 80 volunteers from the University, which included students and staff from 8 am to 12 noon for four hours in the solid waste initiative. Dr Xolile Nokulunga Mashwama, senior lecturer at the University said, expressed her gratitude to Cashbuild and said, “As the faculty chair of this committee on behalf of the University, we would like to say thank you, Cashbuild, for your tremendous support. We managed to complete the task with your help. It has raised awareness of keeping the environment clean and resulted in an understanding of solid waste management, including recycling and reusing dumped material. The initiative addressed the United Nations Sustainable Goals number 11, sustainable cities and communities.
