After
the successful first event in Sebokeng, Cashbuild continued with its Brick and
Block Workshops and this time in the township of Daveyton in Benoni.
The Workshops targeted at brick and block makers for local SMMEs was hosted on the 11th of June 2021 under strict covid-19 guidelines. The event was attended by 16 local SMMEs who were very engaging and interactive.
The extent of knowledge and value shared with attendees would not have been possible without the key partner in PPC Cement. The cement company joined Cashbuild in creating value for the community. Other speakers included Nedbank, SARS and Lefika Ntswe Cement.
Head of Community Support Initiatives at Cashbuild, Thembelani Tukwayo,
says Cashbuild is making efforts to provide easy access to information to local
small businesses as well as leave them empowered, independent and capable of
growing their businesses. "A number of entities have been identified
throughout the country, and Cashbuild will be launching a programme to upskill
and resource these local manufacturing enterprises such that they can supply
our stores where possible," he explained. Concluding that the Khula-Nathi
Local Brick and Block Maker programme is part of Cashbuild's Supplier
Development Programme.
