Cashbuild’s Donation of a Soccer field to the Community of Mhluzi, Middleburg

On the 22nd of February 2024, we were delighted to announce the successful completion and official handover of a state-of-the-art soccer field to Mthombeni Primary, made possible through the generous Corporate and Social Initiative (CSI) efforts of Cashbuild. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to empowering, developing, and fostering growth within the communities where we operate. The ceremony was attended by local community leaders, the Vice-President of the South African Football Association, the Local Football Association, CPF representatives, teachers and students from Mthombeni Primary School, the local Councillor, representatives from the Office of the Mayor, and the Contractor assigned to carry out this task.

The idea for the soccer field was brought to our attention by Mr. Simphiwe Nkosi, a dedicated member of the local community, who highlighted the pressing need for a sporting facility to benefit the residents of Mhluzi. Recognizing the importance of such a project, Cashbuild willingly took on the responsibility and engaged Mayivhuthe Contractors, a local business, for the construction of the soccer field.

The Mthombeni Sports Field will benefit not only the local schools but also the local football teams. “We are extremely happy with the donation; this will go a long way and will further benefit generations to come. As a school, we promise to maintain the field and care for the grounds. This donation shows the partnership that Cashbuild has with the community and the love they have for it. We will always speak about Cashbuild in parent meetings, during tournaments, and inform people about the good work Cashbuild does,” said Ms. Smangele Motsepe, principal of Mthombeni Primary School.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Simphiwe Nkosi for his proactive involvement and for championing this cause within the community. His vision and advocacy played a pivotal role in bringing this initiative to fruition.
